Armadillo repellent - There are so many home remedies out there for repelling an armadillo; going to the store to buy an equally ineffective product just doesn't make sense. Most of the products in the store contain the same ingredients you can find on your shelves at home—like naphthalene. More commonly known as mothballs, naphthalene is an insecticide. It has poor efficacy against anything other than the insects it was created to kill, but homeowners believe it is the cure-all for pest issues. You should be cautioned against trying things like mothballs, citrus spray, peppermint oil, and rope barriers. All of these repellents are futile; however, if you going to try something, you might as well try the things that won't cost you a lot of money. In reality, the best way to repel armadillos is to keep your yard fenced against them. ‘Dillos are not too inclined to climb over things, so a barrier fence does not have to be tall. The fence does need to extend into the ground slightly outward at an angle or the armadillo might burrow beneath it. These animals can make quick work of a yard in just a few hours, so don't think daily patrolling of a perimeter fence will be enough.
