Will a high pitch sound deterrent machine work against armadillos? - It's understandable why people think high pitched sounds work against animals; after all, animals have greater senses than we do, don't they? It certainly makes sense that they might be sensitive to bright lights or loud sounds. This isn't the case, however. Just because many animals do have a greater range of hearing doesn't mean certain sounds are going to hurt their ears, let alone chase them away. When you think about it, animals are driven by some primary instincts, and these include the need to eat, reproduce, and survive. When you make a loud sound, it may initially startle a wild animal, but once that animal realizes there is no immediate danger, it is going to continue doing whatever it was doing before. This is especially the case with armadillos. Though small, these animals are not overly spooky. They rely on their armored bodies to protect them against predators, and if needed, they usually have an escape burrow nearby if they really feel they need to leave the area. Startling an armadillo won't make it leave your property. You may scare it underground for a short period of time, but it will eventually emerge, and once it becomes immune to the sound you are using, it won't even flinch when the noise goes off.
